If you recall, 4K UHD monitors are faking 144HZ for a long time now. Not anymore. The first announced ROG Swift PG 27UQ can do the incredible 144HZ. The brother Acer Predator XB272-HDR uses the same panel. Both are supplied by AU Optronics and spec wise both are identical. Can't go wrong with both. What's more impressive is the Quantum dots and HDR. They promise deeper black and color accuracy even though HDR has nothing to with 'deeper black.'
The black level depends on the display technology used. But this monitor can get deep black due to the full array local dimming (FALD). The 384 backlight zones in this monitor is enough to surpass some of the flagship TVs out there.

This monitor is not just a headline. The features are really impressive. Although it's 4K UHD (Ultra HD 3840×2160 resolution) rather than true 4K, it flashes more than 8 million pixels in front of you. The pixel density is 163PPI across 27" IPS panel if you are wondering. It's more than capable of displaying detailed images.

One of the most impressive features of this monitor is the 144HZ refresh. It's capable for the smooth gameplay you could ever get. This monitor promises 6.9ms to update its contents which we are aware what a 144HZ refresh rate can do. A regular 60hz monitor takes ~16.6ms to update its content. So the input lag is virtually low and the animations are super fast. Because the refresh rate is 144HZ, it cuts the delay between frames compared to 60HZ monitor offering a spectacular experience and edge against opponents (if you have any).
The high resolution will help every artists and content creators out there, and serious gamers will benefit from this fast 144HZ refresh rate.
It'll surely satisfy those who care about everything about the monitor and squeezing the last pixel of it.

Those who are getting this monitor should make sure getting the best graphics cards out there. Single GPU's won't be enough to push this into 144HZ. We are sure your single GPU's will fail to push it to 144fps. In the demo at CES 2017, they are rumored to be showing off the 144HZ via Quadro P6000 SLI.
This monitor requires Some beasts out there. However, thanks to nVidia Gsysnc technology you don't have to worry about the frames dipping. Gsync will smooths out the frames and screen tears.

If you don't know, HDR increases latency. But Gysnc HDR is tuned for HDR. Speaking of HDR, This is not an average performer. It can go up to 1000nit peak brightness which is something UHDA specifies for the displays to get certified for UHD premium. It's worth comparing it to typical monitor which only goes 300-350 nits today.

PG27UQ supports HDR10 Supports. Although the standard does not supports dynamic metadata (pros working towards it), It still kicks displays that do not support HDR. 1000 nits is really troublesome if there's no backlighting, but the 384 backlight zones are there for controlling the zones and no worries about backlight bleed. The pitch-perfect black is impossible on this monitor as marketing professionals say because it still uses LCD tech. But it does have more peak brightness than OLED displays.

There's this quantum dots tech on top of all this, although it doesn't have anything to do with the actual theory lads saying. Quantum dots is actually an improvement over the existing LCD tech.  But it does offer better colors and contrast compared to the typical monitors and supports the DCI-P3 color space. And the IPS panel gives better wide angles, colour reproduction, and accuracy.

There's some additional fantasy light works on PG27UQ and it sports dual DisplayPort 1.4 inputs and one HDMI to connect multiple devices.

Overall: - New Kings of the monitors crowned.
